Buckingham Palace is located in the City of Westminster, London and is the primary residence of the British royal family. This palace is a place for state events, for welcoming state guest and one of tourist destination in London. Often in times of joy, crisis or mourning, it also became the center of the community gathered for the United Kingdom.

The building was formerly known as Buckingham House and is actually a town hall built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 and acquired by George III in 1761, used as a home personally known as ”The Queen’s House “. This building had suffered from the development since it was built, and were first designed by the architects John Nash and Edward Blore. There are also three additional wing buildings of the central courtyard. Buckingham Palace finally became the official residence of the royal family of the United Kingdom since the appointment of Queen Victoria in 1837. 

The last addition of the building was made in the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, including the front that we often see today from Buckingham Palace. The building is also still sometimes referred to as  “Buck House “. Queen Victoria, the first royal family living Buckingham Palace, occupied it since 1837.



The palace interior is dominated by design from the early 19th century, with the use of bright colors known as scagliola technique and blue and pink lapis, suggested Sir Charles Long. King Edward VII oversaw a partial redecoration in a Belle Époque cream and gold colour scheme. Many smaller reception rooms are furnished in the Chinese regency style with furniture and fittings brought from the Royal Pavilion at Brighton and from Carlton House. The Buckingham Palace Garden is the largest private garden in London. 

Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms. These include 19 State rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms.
In this building there is a room that is used as a work room of Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family for official state events and banquets. This building is one building that is very popular and visited by no less than 50,000 people per year to attend a dinner, lunch, receptions and official parties of the royal family.
